Spanish Courses in Havana

The city of Havana is without doubt the leading cultural centre throughout the country of Cuba. It houses such a vast array of features including churches, museums, palaces and public squares. One of the most visited attractions is the Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabana, located upon the elevated Eastern region of Havana.

It is an 18th century fortress and its construction was started in the year 1763 by the king of Spain, King Carlos III. It was completed in 1774 and was used as both a prison and a military base during the following 200 years. The fortress is now part of an historical park and boasts numerous museums that are open to the general public.

Although it might seem a little morbid to begin with a visit to the Colon Cemetery is highly recommended due to the beautiful, elaborate memorials. The cemetery covers 140 acres and contains approximately 500 major mausoleums, vaults and chapels.

Havana is the perfect city to learn Spanish in with its rich culture and Spanish speaking locals, there is much to see and do.
